And it makes me angry. I was going to post something else here today. I've even have it written and saved in the system here, but I'm not ready to put it live quite yet. Besides, the weather today deserves comment.
The shot in the rear really worked, by the way. The fever broke last night and I woke up feeling much better and I went back to work, although I kind of wish I hadn't. It was one of those days that remind me why I hate my job and the majority of humanity in general. It doesn't help that spring is here. Spring is often portrayed as beautiful and glorious in literature and art, but that's a damn, dirty lie. My car is currently yellow instead of silver, I can't tell if the sinus issues I'm suffering from are lingering effects of this weekend's illness or allergies, which I'll be fighting until June or July. I'm sure nature's spluge isn't helping either way. I'll be popping Aleve Cold and Sinus like crack to fight my sinus headaches and congestion for the next three or four months.
It also doesn't help that the weather is warmer. It's been in the 80s the past two days and it's been warm enough for the frogs to be singing for the past two weeks. That may sound all and wonderful to those of you suffering from anorexia or poor circulation, but that's sweating weather for me, and I hate to sweat. Sure, there'll be a couple of days here and there over the next two months where the highs don't make it out of the 60s, but for the most part it's going to be averaging in the high 70s until it starts getting into the summer weather of the 90s starting in late April or early May. In case you can't tell, I'm not a huge fan of the heat. Plus, it means instead of a nice crisp 65 inside where you can sleep bundled up in the covers and wake up warm and happy, I'll have to settle for 72 and wake up sweaty and annoyed every morning. I'm not kidding on this one. I'll be sweating even with just a sheet from now on.
And I'm not even that close to obese. I'm a bit overweight, but not one of those guys who are going to break into a sweat and a wheeze while taking a few steps from the couch to the fridge for a bucket o' chicken while watching American Idol or some other such drivel. I'm still in shape enough to keep up with most of the kids on a high school tennis team.
Worse than that, the mosquitoes are back, and if you've been reading this blog for a while, you know my take on those little fuckers. At tennis practice today I was bitten by four and managed to snatch the lives of several others out of the air before they could make their tiny, vampiric moves. Freaking parasites.
Spring sucks. Happiness is over. All that is left is pollen, sweat, blood, and mucus-infused pain.

There, I feel better now. I think some of that may even come across as humor.
And I'm I the only one to not mention the Super Bowl in a post? I'm the guy who's written about football, rugby, tennis, and curling, and yet I'm the only one to not even mention watching "The Big Game" in an official post.
I'm the exact opposite. I love warm weather but that's probably because Cape Town is a more out door city (we are surrounded by beaches, hiking areas etc). There's not much you can do in winter in Cape Town.
So move somewhere where it stays cool longer. Like ... here.
Dang. As if I wanted to move to South Georgia (not the island) in the first place, now I really don't. Actually South Georgia Island would be an interesting place to live, for a bit at least. But only in the summertime. I wonder what the mosquitoes are like there? Lots of snowy peaks...
Wow, I can't believe how much warmer it gets four hours away from where we are. It was in the mid 70s here yesterday, which was crazy. But give it time and it will be down in the 40s and 50s for the high again. It's Georgia; the weather is always back and forth like this.
I can't believe you already have pollen though!
