We started our road trip to Asheville and Cleveland today and it hasn't been a very auspicious start. When we got on the road today about two miles into the trip a deer ran out in front of us and we narrowly missed it. On a four-lane highway. At noon.
Then, about five miles into the trip, K remembered that she forgot the camera so we turned around and went home to get it. At the next town over we decided to stop at McDonald's so I could get a fruit and walnut salad. It wasn't until after I had paid and gotten the rest of our order that I am told that they are out of fruit and walnut salads and I need to pull up and wait for someone to bring me a refund. Finally K goes in and just brings me a bag of apples and a princess kitty bobblehead doll and we get back on the road.
It's now an hour after we left home the first time and we've gotten nine miles. Oh joy!
Then about a hundred miles down the road K remembers that she forgot the baby backback that we had planned on using to take E hiking at Chimney Rock. We don't turn around this time.
Then E pukes after sticking to much chicken nugget in his mouth and we make another detour to clean him up. The car still smells a bit of baby vomit. Appealing!
Finally we get to the approximate hafway point and meet my sister and parents in Augusta. We want to get dinner and see a movie but we have to get back by 10 p.m. when they lock the gate to the state park where we're staying. We finish dinner at 6:45 and then rush to the 7 p.m. showing of Hancock, the only movie we can all agree on and b sure that it will let out soon enough for us to get back before the gate closes back at the campground. Only we have to stop and get baby wipes and milk for E first and the closest exit to I-20 that we need is closed for construction. We get to the theater around 7:25.
Luckily we only miss the first ten minutes of the show according to my parents and we settle in to watch the film. E has other plans. Despite milk and pacifier he won't sit still or shut up so I take him out into the hall where he happily greets all of the movie posters and promotional cutouts. After twenty minutes I try to get him to sleep, but that's a lost cause. I finally get him calm enough to sit down again just to watch the last ten minutes. Wise use of time and money!
After a long and frustrating day e drive back to my parents' camper and I start to type this' jaw a little sore from clenching my teeth from the past twenty minutes of E crying in the car and fighting sleep in bed when I reach my thumb for the p button only to tap the cancel button causing me to lose the entire post. Considering that I'm typing on my phone, you'll have to forgive me for not proofreading tonight. Typos rock my ass off!

Awww. I'm sorry your child, your wife and McDonald's have conspired to ruin your vacation.
You typed this on your phone? Dude, just take a break.
The phone has a QWERTY keyboard and I couldn't sleep.
Believe me, I'm not taking time from my vacation to write these. I'm shooting them out in the minutes before crawling into bed when no one else is doing anything.
