I set my pre-draft rankings for one of my fantasy football leagues and signed up for a college pick 'em league today. If I could convince public schools to shift their big break of the year to October and November, football season would be my favorite time of year. As it is, my favorite season is winter. It's got the second longest break of the year and is the only season down here that doesn't include 90-degree days on a regular basis. That and the two weeks of bowl games are like that one last giant hit that junkies need before taking the long plane ride that is the off season.
Until college kickoff at the end of this month, I'll just have to use the Tri-Nations rugby tournament to sate my need for violent team sports. Go All Blacks!
Oh, and the Olympics kick off tomorrow (unless you count the couple of soccer matches that have already been played for the Olympic tournament), so this is going to be athletics overload for me in the coming weeks.
Too bad I'm an out-of-shape fat ass in real life. My sister's competing in a triathlon in Hilton Head this weekend and played on a NCAA Div. 1 basketball team in college, though. I figure I get some athlete points from her by association.

Wow, you should feel athletic for having a sister who's doing a triathlon. A 5K road race is about as adventurous as I get, although it would be off-road if I had my preference.
I'm not reading this one, but yay sports.
Mickey: It's the shortest one I write in months and doesn't even mention baseball, much less insult it and you don't read it?
I read it... even though I chose to watch the opening ceremonies before attending to your blog. China spent $300MM. I think I made the right choice.
I, too, am excited about the upcoming tailgaiting season. We have season tickets to the GT games this year, which is a little overwhelming.
